I live in a little place in the Gold Coast Hinterland, about an hour south of Brisbane. We are a community of only about 7k people, but have a MASSIVE influx of tourists, particularly on the weekends.
The local servo (there is only one) has been stocking Yowie for a few months. Very prominent display right in front of the glass sliding doors as you walk in. Selling them for 4 bucks a pop. Probably 12 boxes in the display.
I finally succumbed and bought these 3 yesterday. Asked old mate how they have been selling and he said they are "f...ing hot as man". Flying off the shelves and working hard to keep them restocked.
Bought 1 for me and 1 for each of the kids. Got the 3 items posted in the pics.
Capsule was a bit hard to open, until you worked out to squeeze it in the middle and it pops open easily.
Chocolate was not very nice at all. On a scale of cheap nasty easter egg being a 2, cadbury being a 7, lindt balls being 9.5 - this was about a 3 to 3.5. Kids didn't dislike it quite as much.
Kids were super keen on the toy and my little one was devo that I got a yowie and she got a tortoise. They didn't look at the accompanying information at all until I prompted them, and showed no interest in finding out more via the website etc.
