Forgot to mention the other aspect that is critically important - which has been mentioned here -are the symptons of nausea and diarrhoea which many of the children present with, making not just the swallowing of the tablet difficult, but retention in the body long enough for it to do its work. The nausea with malaria is violent and relentless. I also had dysentry at the same time, so the weekly, yes weekly, quinine tablets as prescribed were basically ineffective. I had malarial relapses for several years afterwards.

Anything that can help these kids have a better survival rate and a healthier life is a Godsend. In that respect, cannot fathom why the Gates Foundation isn't all over this.
