I agree with you DT but I do think you are going to be disappointed waiting for your beloved wealth storing metal of the past to hyperinflate. Energy is the new bankable asset cos without it you haven't got an economy that can recover from a storm that may never end! Look at the Philipino basketcase and a growing number of develping countries (and developed countries with Red and blue flags!). The best way to preserve capital going forward is to either invest in energy inventories or invest in energy generating infrastructure. I cannot see any safe place for an imploding global economy other than to have it spend on a physical commodity that has tradable value. I would take gold for the food I produce food but I would take oil, because I can then use that to further generate a physically tradable commodity! Just my opinion of course. I have been known to be wrong!

God forbid if fuel rationing ever occurred again on a global scale, mining of gold resources would not really constitute a great way of using diesel. Look back at the second world war!
