If as I understand your post both trustees are over 60 and receiving tax exempt pension streams, then likewise any capital gain is tax free regardless of any trustee passing. Assuming you have binding or non binding death nomination, then the remaining spouse will receive the shares or cash proceeds if sold without incurring any tax.
