You won't go broke

I must say I was full of admiration when some brave soul announced on an NST thread,he was taking a profit on some of his holding, this must have been more than a year ago,when NST was perhaps three or four dollars. He was of course following the well known dictum, ' You won't go broke taking a profit'. While obviously true I can't help thinking that the saying is incomplete, the actual saying should be ' You won't go broke taking a profit but............................... . Does anybody have the long lost missing bit of this phrase? Posterity will thank you.
