Mozz it is criminal. We legally have to sell our wheat to them. We are not allowed to seek out premium export markets. I could be growing the best quality wheat but I cannot seek reward for that on foreign markets. AWB simply uses the good quality to blend up the low quality and pays an average price to all. As a Western Australian grower I get the same average price as an Eastern States grower when this State has at least a $5-10 freight premium advanatge being closer to the Middle East and Asian markets. This premium is growing as freight rates rise with infalting fuel prices. There is absolutely no transparency. I have no idea and cannot find out exactly how much a tonne is taken out by the AWB in 'management costs'. Hell I don't even know what price each export consignment gets. The AWB will never release this. The only market we know how much the AWB gets is for Egypt because they have an open tendering system. They are a bunch of crooks and now they will pay themselves! Ditch the share cos it is going nowhere! The Labor Govt will keep the pressure on this one and trust me they will be being fed the right information by the multinational grain traders who want a piece of the Australian grain trade!
