Hi All4One and all,
The problem even with an elected autonomous government such as we have here in Australia is the people still don’t get what they want. I’m sure most Australians would like to see the multinational companies selling their goods in our market pay at least some tax.
The fact that our government refuses to chase these companies for tax and instead persecutes its own pensioners and citizens gives a good indication of who is really calling the shots.
We are allowed the illusion of democracy when we vote; however, one does not need so many active brain cells to see its big business and a select group of powerful people that run the show.
Even in Australia with the best politicians that money can buy I seriously doubt we will ever see much change from the current situation.
I hear the halfwits in Canberra are about to let the country run out of fuel shortly as they have allowed the normal stock levels to dwindle. One can only wonder if this is at the behest of US and other multination big oil! Whilst we are thinking about oil why can’t we refine our own oil and make auto and aviation fuel on home soil instead of having to import it from Singapore and such like!
I’m still in the UK and won’t return to Brisbane until early next year but I’m still hearing about local real estate prices falling and the oversupply of inner-city units.
Maybe we will need to give the current generation of personal trainers and fancy coffee makers a $20,000.00 first home grant, an RBA guaranteed low interest mortgage for life, a free big screen TV and cancel their student loans just to keep the economy bubbling along.
When I think back over all those years, I beat my head against the wall building up a manufacturing business, employing people in real jobs and paying good wages, paying my bills and taxes on time and maintaining a good reputation how foolish was I!
When the wizards down in Canberra can do it all with borrowing, printing, pretending we have a vibrant economy and allowing our vast resources to be plundered by multination miners and still keep the public trough filled to the brim.
Can we keep it all held together using the smoke and mirrors for a few more years whilst I enjoy my retirement, I sincerely hope so but somehow, I see it all ending in tears!
Those debt clocks whizzing away in the USA, UK and Australia will surely one day face a day of financial reckoning either that or my own understanding of such matters is way off!
Cheers and very best regards: Andy
