here is a bit of history of mpo's work at Mungi.they drilled laterals, but could not conquer the problem of fines (actually, it is truer to say that they left the Qld assets before they really tried to resolve the issue - because a boardroom coup caused MPO to move focus to Nth American shale oil). they then sold the Qld assets.
Interestingly, when WCL purchased the Meridian field from Anglo, the Mungi field was also up for sale- but MPO used its pre-emptive rights and purchased the Mungi field from under the grasp of WCL. (now the wheel may just turn, and WCL might just get hold of it at some later stage?).
