I just happened upon this one and have realised that in former times this company was called Ghana Gold Mines and for a while operated a gold mine in Ghana in West Africa in the mid 90's. I actually was employed on a short term (1 year) contract to oversee the finances during the closure of the mining operation (low gold price). It went back to exploration mode, raised a bucket load of cash and burned through it with extensive drilling. Found a heap of gold but gold price was progressively tanking and they gave up when the price got to around $230US per ounce.
Subsequently control changed and it became Global Petroleum and made a bucket load of money out of investment in Falkland Islands Oil. I seem to recall the price being over $2 at one stage I think.
