Don't forget that when analysing a chart, especially for the first time, you should initially have a look at a larger timeframe like a weekly or monthly, and have a look at a lot of bars, so that you can get a feel for what the chart has done over time, and where price currently is in relation to the longer term trends.
You will also get a better feel for where to place your lines, because it is the lines which will help the chart 'tell its story'.

Following that, you can move down a timeframe or two, put in some basic lines, and start analysing some bars, and their relationship to the lines.
