Sometimes....I mostly buy uptrending stocks that appear to be being supported.
However, I do muck around a little on the side, when something catches my eye (stock, Index, currency, commodity).
That strategy of 'accumulating with the accumulators' was used by Steve Phillips fairly regularly on the Gold ETF (GLD) in the trading rom I attended a few years back. I watched him do it a lot. The advantage of using the Gold ETF was that any accumulations were generally short and sharp, and done and dusted within a week or so (sometimes less), so no need to hang around waiting for a breakout, as you pretty much knew it would come almost immediately after the accumulation. He was only trading short term (days to weeks) and he would dump some or all of his holdings whenever any potentially serious selling turned up. Then keep watching for the next opportunity.
