There is one small disadvantage to using the combined symbols, and that is that there is no long term history.
So the chart history when using the combined symbols only goes back to Feb 2013 (when the ChiX began trading), which is usually OK, but every now and then I want to look back further for some reason (usually when looking at weekly and monthly charts), and then I have to switch to the ASX coded charts (.AX).
I suggested to metastock that the only flaws in their combined symbols list was 1) to only use the ASX close, instead of using the close from the exchange with the highest daily volume, and 2) they should have used the entire ASX history prior to Feb 2013.
Sadly, at the time they didn't agree with me.....so I left it with them, and didn't argue the point......even though my changes make perfect sense.....well to me they do anyway......
