I don't know that luck has a great deal to do with it. More like Mr Banducci getting the right people around him who actually get up off their arses and have a look at what is going on...and what is required....on the shop floor. And then making the changes that are required.
Woolies under the previous regime were a rudderless ship. They need proper Leadership.
