The point about "gimicky crap" is not that the items are crap, its that you cannot PLAN to buy their promos because they are so transient. I've no doubt the promos are worth it - if you need that item at that time. Go to Aldi next week to pick up a little Dinigan number and it wont be there. All based on compulsive buying. If that's you, go for it.

I wouldn't buy fruit or vegies at ANY supermarket. Its expensive for what it is - a shelf life of 2 or 3 days if you're lucky.

My local WOW doesn't charge for trollies, but Aldi does. My local WOW still has check out ppl that fill my bags.

The bottom line is most ppl will go to their closest supermarket, its that simple. Only when you have them next door to each other do you actually see preference (my local has WOW & Coles - nearest Aldi is 10km away, so very unlikely I will ever go there). Any argument, however, about which one is better is pretty moot. I have friends who swear B&B about their favourite - about as entertaining as arguments on Holden vs Ford!
