Don't kid yoursef, Wes was in no position to buy ALH (Bruce Mathersons Hotel chain) when it was up for sale. If they could have they would have bought it.
By buying ALH, WOW got the hotels they needed in QLD to boost their liquor retailiing. Notice how most QLD hotels have a Dan's close by? On top of that they got land and buildings around Australia, several with large car parks that were perfect to build a liquor outlet on with minimal ouncil problems, (already a pub there so whats the problem). Of all their purchases the ALH one was brilliant, t also gave them teh liquor volume they needed to negotiate with the brewers.
