We have compromised with the boiler and have a glass front in it because we like to see the fire.
2-3 hrs of fire at night = all heating and hot water requirements for 24-48 hrs this time of year.

Our total heating and hot water bill for 12 months is about 8 tanks of fuel for the chainsaw and about the same for the ride on mower and trailer to bring it home. say....$20 max
