You have to keep your mum nice and warm.
I'm starting to feel the cold more. An elderly friend that died a couple of years ago, brought it home to me how staying warm in your 90's is priority one. In his last few years I was there every day and he felt cold when it was stifling in the room.

An open fire is so inefficient you have to feel for the people that lived in the previous centuries. Winter must have been misery and often a time just to survive. We have it very cushy by comparison.

I can remember the inside of my bedroom window being covered in ice when I was a boy but all you wanted to do was get outside and play in it. There was no incentive to stay indoors because it was almost as cold.

    The neighbours sound good.

Is your gas bottled or mains? Big difference in price.
I had the 2 gas bottles here taken away, built a shelf and got a couple of 8.5kg bottles to replace them. After almost a year i'm still on the first bottle. Shows how little cooking I do on the cook top, that's all it's for.
