Yes, it is pretty cold here in winter and my very elderly mother lives here too and feels the cold. As a child we lived in an even colder climate in winter ( and hotter in summer) and all we had for heating was a pretty useless open fireplace and later a single oil heater (burnt with a flame variety) which was a great improvement in one room, but the rest of the house was ice cold and it was a big house built in the 1800's. We've all become so soft compared to the not so distant past, but I'm not complaining and don't miss those boiling hot days at school without a fan either, let alone air conditioning.
