Sorry misunderstood you too, yeah that's correct, one can never "own" the system it is always owned by MS, all copies are rented as such...but, we can purchase a full operating system disc and re use it to do a full install, unlike most OEM systems these days which may only come with a ghost of what's on the PC when you purchase it...
