Yep, I think Russia has long known and respects Israel's position on Iran arming proxies and that is why the recent meeting after the IL-20 incident was cordial. Russia is going to have it's hands full in the region, esp if the US pulls back completely. Seems a high price Russia might pay for a strategic base, but who knows... they may bring stability without oppression?? long odds....
Even more ironic that the entire M.E. now flooded with Russian made weaponry and any conflict is going to see them increasingly up against their own arms exports.
