Thanks for your interest. Suggest you look at the facts. Compare the grades (available alumina, reactive silica ) with export bauxite grades from, say Guinea West Africa. The residual bauxite left in WA after Alcoa and Worsley took the best is not export grade. It is not as good as the stuff that Alcoa and Worsley is feeding into their WA refinery.
These two companies are mining relatively concentrated pods in state forest, not dispersed small pods on settled land with all the social and environmental issues.
You may ask yourself why BAU walked away from their Bindoon "project" my understanding is that they publicly stated that it was " not economic" Then ask yourself what is different with their current "projects"
They have large resource, but until now not one single tonne on reserve.
State forest and mining sustainably and responsibly for many years, boosting the whole economy in that region. The Bindoon project doesn't compare to Fortuna and Felicitas. Can you tell me how much all sustained cost BRL/BAJV to mine DSO bauxite per Tonne? Also what is the average DSO grade and sale price per tonne?
BAJV conglomerate are on board now, all approvals, studies are being conducted in consultation with the relevant government departments and the public. It's very economical, DSO, easy to mine, very skilled local workforce (High percentage currently employed in FIFO). I have worked with a number of people Geologists, Drillers, an Environmentalist and a Labourer over the years from the Greater Toodyay, Wundowie and Northam who like the lifestyle in Toodyay and I am sure would love a job closer to home.
