    This comes as chatter is starting to surface in the market that some fund managers are planning to knock back the $6.50-per-share offer for Australian oil and gas major Santos.

    While the Santos board has allowed Harbour Energy due diligence on the company after putting forward a $6.50-per-share offer, since that time the oil price has increased further, which makes the company more valuable.

    It could mean that Harbour Energy, backed by EIG Partners, may need to put more money on the table.
