Perhaps in 2001, Australia was not on planet Earth but in the throes of believing in Boris Yeltsin's Russia or something other than the international rule of law. Peter Costello is now Chairman of the ill-fated Nine Network of 60 Minutes Lebanese kidnapping saga, Commonwealth Games ban and cricket scandal fame so his decision was probably a one-off.
Do not believe that could happen today, does not the Trans Pacific Partnership now ban that sort of thing anyway in Australia?
