I fully understand the mood about the situation, and the ability of mood to swing judgment and share prices to the extreme. I also accept that maybe I'm missing something here as to the true facts of the situation, and maybe some are privy to those true facts.
However on the facts that we know, I for one can not see the justification of the share price and extreme mood. If the facts are correct that
1. we have a product that does actually work very well and is relatively simple and cost effective.
2. The problem is the depth of trial done, relating to a curiosity as to the effectiveness with or without the attachment of the growth factor, which is not petty but it is a curiosity as it will not be sold without and the effectiveness can be demonstrated in a pre-clinical lab study.
3. We had until recently around 8 million in the bank.
I notice that Mesoblast recently received a government grant to carry out further clinical trials. So government help is available, and surely if it is correct what we have been told, 1. the effectiveness of the product, then surely it could be possible that help could be available to push it over the line. So much is made of the loss of developments to overseas etc or through lack of support and funding which is why the gov is providing all these support networks. Yes the company has to say "Yep we take some responsibility for screwing this all up, but the product is there, and if it fails now it will be another avoidable disaster for Australian product research and development. "
But of course that is only amateur logic at work. Regardless of all the pronouncements that "we will be kept informed" I don't think we are adequately being kept abreast of whats happening. Management probably still doesn't think its really all that important. Well look at the share price. If there is something positive happening, its disclosure will help, which will help in further requests for capital.
I also emailed the company to ask whether or not they had previously done a lab pre-clinical trial of tissue growth with or without the growth factor. I have heard nothing in reply. Do I take that as a no? If so then I change my sentiment from buy to hold.
