So why would the likes of News Corp, Telstra and Seven West Media cut a deal with Quickflix that gives them a lifeline they so desperately need?
Analysts have said that there is only room for 2 streaming players in Australia.
The assumption is that Netflix will be one of them...and either Presto or Stan will be the other.
Reports have Presto way behind Stan.....and if Quickflix runs out of money Stan will get all of Quickflix...
Potentially giving it the commanding lead it needs to kill off Presto for good.
News, Telstra (Foxtel) and Seven West media who jointly own Presto aren't going to be happy about that.
They would lose their market dominance and a whole lot of dosh.
If they get enough shares in QFX at a cheap enough price they may decide to consolidate under the Quickflix banner after all.
I'd like to see that!
