The reason a lot of holders scream blue murder over SOL's lowball offers, is because They usually move in when the prey is already undervalued, after some bad news or stockmarket downturn or something.
The holders have been doing their own valuations and have ballpark figures at what their company may be worth in the future (often on a best case scenario).
Then Rob Milner comes in and offers 20%ish above VWAP when the company is trading at year lows or whatever, and the minor shareholders are not happy.
They miss out on a lot, but the ones that come off usually do quite well.
...and on the other side, when they sell off assets, they push hard for the Best Price or do not sell, always looking after their own shareholders (which is whay they are so loyal I guess).
I reckon Rob Milner is a bit like Warren Buffett in a way (long term view), they both want to pay a Fair Price for a Great Company, not a Great Price for a Fair Company, lol
