    I guess that’s where we differ. ARG marginally underperformed it’s index, but usually so will an ETF after costs. Still a nice franked dividend, that you can count on year in, year out. And it’s well diversified, so probably less volatility than a high conviction fund.

    Was looking at some stuff on Jack Bogle, at the time of his recent death. He used to say ‘why try to beat the market?’ Quite frankly, I now tend to agree with him. I really wish I had my life over again to invest early, contribute regularly and just let the market compound away (index fund or something similar). It’s a strategy that might not shoot the lights out, but it will get the job done with little stress.

    I’m really tiring of active fund managers, where, after costs, you don’t really seem to get anywhere fast. Look how many LICs we have on the ASX that do pretty well nothing after fees.

    PS. I’m not a super sophisticated investor, who accesses exotic funds and managers. But I guess neither is the average Argo investor, either.
