Hmmmm.....
It would be interesting to see how much of NTA is assessed on a 'fair value' basis, as opposed to a 'market value' basis.
I'm a bit skeptical of instruments assessed at 'fair value'. I guess it's because I'm just not sure what they are, and whether that value might evaporate in a heartbeat if a transaction is 'forced'.
Seems to all come back to risk versus return. ARG and LICs like it are totally transparent, but you know that the company will ride the downturns, just like it has for the past 71 years.
HML looks like an interesting bet for maybe 1%-5% of your portfolio (especially if you are getting close to retirement) but, for me at least, it would never be the core.
Hmmmm..... It would be interesting to see how much of NTA is...
