It’s a good question . There were plenty of hints in the Montgomery report about high conductivity brines under the alluvial fans.
I can only guess that based on their gravity results they assumed no depth in the delta.
That’s certainly the way it was describes in the very old geological studies.
GXY must be kicking themselves - back then they could have grabbed Candelas for peanuts!!
