Last week there were a few comments made about the depth of brine zones and the impact on the project being economical.
So how much more does it really cost to pump brine from 100m compared to (lets say worst case) 500m?
I ran the following calculations based on a 20ktpa operation with an average grade of 800 mg/L.
Turns out the pumping cost/T for a 100m vs 500m well is around $11/T vs $55/T. It works out to around 1.4% of production costs for a 500m well. And about 0.7% for a 300m well.
Or in layman's terms - bugger all!
