Kangaroo Rat is only an Inferred deposit at the minute, unlike Great Australia & Mt Colin which both have the majority of their deposit classed as indicated.

Further successful infill drilling would be needed to upgrade the deposit at Kangaroo Rat to indicated.


Lots of things come to mind here.

Bit of speculation, thinking out loud if you will-

If Mt Colin was to go to Xstrata, then our friends at CopperChem will need another deposit in less than two years (they have been mining it since January/February I think, so maybe Great Australia will be exhausted in about another year or so).


I have been thinking that the Pumpkin Gully deposits would go to CopperChem (if they prove up OK), but that is a very short timeframe to prove them up and get a mining lease granted.

So with the mining lease already in place at Kangaroo Rat, there would only be a need to further prove up the resource that is already there, which would keep CopperChem in ore for another year or so longer, and would release the pressure on Exco to get other deposits ready in the near term.
