I think that the Henny Pennies were correct on this occasion.

What I find difficult to believe is that in spite of the competition from Uber et al, the taxi industry did so little to lift their game. From this ex-customer's perspective anyway.

Uber drivers sometimes piss me off (surcharges, no shows, getting lost, can't speak English, don't know how to read their gps etc) but in my experience compared to taxis, Uber and the competition are light years ahead in terms of cleanliness, value and service etc. For the time being anyway.

RIP taxis as we use to know them. Probably a good thing too.
