Not tooting my horn just yet (Short @ 3.82), but if you look at what had happened in San Francisco where Uber started and has the most matured disruptive effect so far... You have Taxi licenses there which use to be on a 10 year wait-list to gain one. There is now a 2 year wait list to sell at pennies in the dollar.
Unless taxi's can reduce their prices, integrate Paypal (in addition to card for the less tech savy) so there is no delay due to having to pay and take change / receipt. There is no hope for them. The trend is down and there is no growth drivers for them at all. They will be confined to government work and special access / disability taxi's.
Even if they do integrate Paypal, reduce prices and compete well. The cabcharge model is dead.

If you could compare physical cash as a commodity to using plastic cards and now progressing to contactless payments. Cabcharge is the cash and there ain't no going back.
