I have had the same thought going through my head for the past couple of weeks, and I have wondered if Alistair et al are concerned about any repercussions of not supporting the merger at this stage. The fact that the plant in Finland now makes Finnish operations a goer in their own right must be a consideration by the VCN board. Or is it not so simple, that maybe there is more than a break fee involved, maybe some form of legal claim against VCN for financial impairment by URL(bearing in mind on the board of VCN is Michael Blakiston of B&C, so the legal advice would be first class IMO).
I believe that VCN or VCN_URL merged entity, whichever way it goes, will be an absolutely fantastic investment, and its just sitting out there waiting for the meeting at the end of this month.
BEFORE then (the next couple of weeks) I will be adding to my holdings unless the market absolutely plummets. IMO after the meeting it will move fast and probably too late to act!
