I'm on your side. I was "lucky " and bought at $2.90 collected my dividends and sold at $3.36 so for me with dividends and franking credits I did OK
On the flip side I have just done some back of the envelope calculations. If you had bought in Feb 2099 at @ 8.83 and sold today at $3.18 then your long term investor has lost 64% of his capital. During the same time ( these are rough figures done in my head ) dividends would have returned approx 64% over the same time frame. So a long term investment over 20 years broke even excluding franking credits Looks like a pretty sh....ty investment to me unless you got your timing right
