Looks like a bit of real estate envy creeping into this thread. Straying away from TLS, but here's a few points.

No one is stopping anyone from buying real estate so I don't understand why people complain about it. If it is that great at making wealth why not just do it as well?

Generally, you can't amass huge wealth by negative gearing because the negative part of it has to be offset against your income/profits and unless you are paying huge taxes, you run out of profits if you do numerous properties, and then don't get to eat. Most people agree that to build significant wealth through property, you must positive gear.

So negative gearing is more designed to give the middle class average family a leg up and a chance to buy a second property, rather than to become particularly wealthy. Like the franking credit fiasco, Labor is hell bent on destroying any chance of financial self sufficiency, and I am pretty sure their ultimate goal is to have everyone on welfare. I don't think they have caught on to the fact that if they achieve this, they will not have any money to pay for the welfare because they won't be collecting any taxes.

Getting back on track to TLS, I must admit I am a bit nervous about tomorrow.
