Investor Bob,would be interesting to know how much solar energy is required to recycle these solar panels ?,plus the cost of replacement the panels and energy required for such production.
We have ben burge running tls energy ie solar plants and the bat/bird killing noise polluting and simple landscape destroying wind farms.
My 2 cents 'thorium reactors may dispose of enormous amounts of weapons grade plutonium'.
And as usual australia has plenty of thorium.
Apparently 7 plants operating globally but clearly more research required,it was never developed because it is not weapons grade.
Besides power and thermal energy it produces industrial hydrogen production and desalination.
Currently we have the energy required to recycle 10's of thousands of solar panels, the massive requirment from dirty brown coal to produce hydrogen for export in victoria.
Now for me thorium makes more sense as per above,it absolutely makes spending $200b on a bs very fast train that also requires massive energy.ie spend $50 to $100b on more research into thorium and become a leader in global energy production, absolutely more productive than solar (imo thorium production would get a big tick from infrastructure australia and the productivity commission ,especially compared to fast train..Maybe besides the chairman who said tls will not become a energy retailer we should also be looking at whether ben burge should be replaced as tls energy manager.
ps i also believe we should be ordering these nuscale nuclear modules, building in australia 6 nuclear subs already proven ie US or french and developing a nuclear research industry.
Tls could become a leader in telecommunications and energy.
