Hi Benson, I think the 2 questions are somewhat related. So I'll answer both at the same time; if it doesn't confuse you too much. I've never checked or bother actually reading the agreement between TLS and NBN on none competitive mobile connection. I still don't believe that is the case. If its true there is a hidden clause that says TLS cannot advertise for fixed wireless connection, then surely this is an unfair practice and should be looked at. As for TLS smart modem "backup" wireless. I think there are 2 main reasons for it. 1), TLS don't want people to start unplugging their telephone lines to the modem to gain a speed boost. Note that the backup wireless connection is speed capped to just 1.5 MBPs? Imagine if everyone on TLS 4gx suddenly could get 1GBPs, why would anyone even get NBN? 2) TLS 4gx, though they could go up to 1-2GBPs, is not high on capacity, TLS wants to ensure its superior 4gx network has minimum congestion so as to be "fair" to the rest of its mobile users. The 26GHz range is of particular importance in terms of fixed wireless as it potentially is the easiest to implements, its fixed location, don't need for on the fly tracking. Its a new higher range, which can provide a bigger capacity and speed. As floptus, I really don't know what their plans are for fixed wireless connection. If they are using the current 6ghz spectrum in the recent auction, then they will face the same problems as I've outlined for TLS. As I've said, the NBN can't even keep up on with the current "low" 6ghz spectrum in terms of speed. So, I'm jsut waiting to see about this floptus fixed wireless, which they've said they will introduce 1st half of this year. I have a feeling a new floptus moment might arise from it.
