If someone wants to sponge off the system and refuse to work maybe the right to vote should be questioned.

The aboriginal elder idea has merit as in their pre white societies elders were greatly respected and obeyed.

Unfortunately our current society does not seem to value elders much given the reported treatment of elders by family or in nursing homes.

Values in most Western societies IMO have dropped markedly in the past 50 years.

I blame the me-orientated outlook generated by sites such as Facebook.

We seem to be talking about ourselves a lot more than in the past 50 years.
