My experience in giving estimates is that I would always come unstuck with hard and fast dates and costs.
There are always factors that throw the estimates out and the watchers (like Hot Copper) are never satisfied by honest alibis.
I learnt it was better to be vague or give outrageously long estimates. If the result happened sooner every one was happy.
We should cut Rob Tyson some slack.
