    Denial

Yes, there are thousands of "crackpot" references on google. You should have read the RECENT one I sent you, where it says:

"In the huge area of East Antartica, the ice is mostly above sea level, Shepherd explains. The air temperature is also much lower, and the experts do not expect the ice to melt on account of rising temperatures. In this part of Antarctica, the ice sheet is actually growing as a consequence of increased snowfall. This has led some critics to question the global warming theory. However for Shepherd and his colleagues, the changes are all consistent with patterns of climate warming, which leads to more evaporation from the oceans and in turn more precipitation, which falls as snow on the ice sheets."

This makes complete sense to me.The planet IS warming and seas ARE rising. Even your reference you sent agrees with the above. To suggest that "the ice caps are coming back" is absolute nonsense. Yes, it's snowing more in Eastern Antarctica but the ice shelves are still melting (at both poles) and at an accelerating rate, especially in West Antarctica.

Anyway, this does not help BTU's cause. Any arguments put forward by the company in its negotiations need to stress the BENEFITS of providing quality coal because the old denial that there is no such thing as global warming simply will not wash. I am not a green apologist, merely a pragmatist. I hope that the company is too.
