It would be pretty naive of anyone to think that they could just waltz in and start ripping up a chunk of the west coast without any comment or opposition along the way. If anyone has stood on "the hill" they will know Denniston as a special and wild place, but at the same time unmistakeably coal country.
F&B, far from being vermin, have been a pretty responsible voice for the environment over the years and they've had a dollar or two from me on occasion - if they have something to say, let it be said. Be patient and let the process go its course.
FWIW, I have a strong family connection with Denniston - my Grandfather mined there, and my father and older siblings were born there (many years ago of course). If this gets the green light I will probably be in for sentimental reasons...
