Good Morning govr I know what you are saying but the fact is if you look at 99% of the ASX listed companies, and you do research on that company and read forums and you will see there is always something wrong with the management or how the particular company is being managed and run by that management. My view is its all about the timing and the opportunities, and with time opportunities do present themselves how you act is up to each individual at the time.
I give you a my personal example. In 2007 just before GFC I invested my hard earned and years of savings of $80k in BHP and bought shares at $39.00. That was my first investment ever, since then twice opportunities presented for me to offload those but I did not act on those opportunities and to date my $80k is all in RED, and I look at it everyday.
I still hold them. I am not bagging BHP or saying anything bad about the company, simply giving an example of timing and opportunity.
Now if I had invested that in a better opportunity, real estate or another stock, I can say for sure I would have doubled my $80k by now.
I have learnt a lot since then and still spend considerable timing learning opportunities.
