The equity component of Amcor's acquisitive capital raising, flagged last week, is expected to be announced today. It is understood that Amcor will raise approximately $1.6 billion at between $4.30 and $4.30 per share in a rights issue led by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, UBS, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan and Commsec. The raising will fund the acquisition of Rio Tinto Alcan's remaining unsold packaging assets. Last month, the assets of Alcan Packaging Food Americas were sold to Bemis Company for $US1.2 billion. It is also understood that Amcor will raise another $1.2 to $1.6 billion in debt through Goldman Sachs JBWere. The total sale value of the Alcan assets is thought to be in the region of $2.8 billion.
