So true. I find the best strategy is to first look for value or a trend via news cycle or a stock screener.
Then drill down and drill down further to understand the industry, the participants and the thesis, do this by reading financials, announcements etc. You need to be able to explain your thesis in detail relatively quickly to anyone who asks otherwise you probably don't know enough yourself.
