I noticed that they now plan to incorporate a "natural gas/coal fired furnace" into the American plant design whereas previously the furnace would be fired by coal only. This sounds like there are serious issues with environmental regulations in the US which force them to switch over to natural gas which will probably increase plant and production costs.
The Quarterly Activities and Cashflow Report - App 5B from 31/10/2011 said draft air permits for the proposed Wyoming projects are expected to be issued by the end of December 2011 (only nine weeks later) but that the timeline could be delayed by the new greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations. These new GHG regulations was said to may require emissions data, "which will only be able to be sourced from the operating Tabang plant once it has achieved commercial production rates".
The next quarterly issued on 31/01/2012 then said the very same using the same wording but providing the end of June 2012 as expected date for these draft air permits while not mentioning any requirement for emssions data. I guess they've been gathering this data at Cessnock wherefore they recommissioned the larger plant there before.
Now yesterday's quarterly repeats this paragraph from the previous quarterlies (p.2 "As reported in previously reports, ...") for the third time but doesn't provide any expectation of when they now expect the draft air permits anymore.
Unfortunately the Company does not bother to inform us about what problems they exactly face in the US which again cause one of those countless delays.
At least it indeed seems like they are scrapping their plans for another Indonesian project. The remarks about South Africa and all the interested companies around the world sound as interesting as all the hollow promises before but we've really heard enough of these - it's high time to deliver and I don't mean quarterly reports with reiterating text blocks. Also we still haven't heard anything about the economics of these coal fine projects.
