Red, I noticed no explanation too apart from them talking up membership.
I actually reduced my holding way back when they first bought into goodlife. I've had a few mates buy into gyms and they got burnt. And their is a reason why so many spring up and suddenly close. If AaD targeted these sort of operators and bought them for nothing I wouldn't mind so much. But it's a highly competitive market.
