    The same thing happened with Woodside. Have a look at their announcement on 30 March about media speculation of direct takeover. The ASX only dealt with it via a speeding ticket. Woodside also say there they never comment on media speculation. I realize Woodside are much bigger than EXS, but you would think the ASX would have dealt with this one via phone call if they have that policy in place.

    Do you know of any specific examples of where the ASX have called up a company on the same morning that an article is released and asked them to make an announcement regarding media speculation?

    Not trying to bait you here oze, I genuinely would be really interested to know because it is quite an important point. I have never heard of it before and can't imagine the ASX being that diligent and proactive. Like all bureaucracies, they tend to be much more reactive and therefore look at situations post ante and therefore monitor price movements as they happen rather than preventing them in anticipation (which is really a responsibility of the company).
