Another reason for this downward slide is this:
recovery of 57% at 1.6 standard gravity is a horrible coal. maximum grade thermal, worth less than 100/tonne AUD.
just for comparison, australian coal companies look for 90% recovery at 1.4 standard gravity, or to direct comparison they would get 92-95% at 1.6 standard gravity. which means it would be coking coal, worth 220-240$/tonne.
so even though they have 2.4billion tonne, their operating costs for mining will be 50-60 and 5-10 for washing, their profit margin is slim prior to transport costs, insurances, royalties.. and without a raillink transport would be impossible.
