From my limited experience working for an oil company in the Middle East, I would agree with your comment that the IOCs have rather limited access to major oil and gas resources.

I also agree that this is a security of energy supply issue, especially for the Western democracies. I may be missing a great deal, but it is my opinion that the West is living too much on hope that nothing will severely interrupt supplies.

I wish that we were doing more to provide a long term security for our energy needs.

PS. You have an interesting name. From what I can recall from my physics and chemistry classes, entropy is to do with nature's inclination to be become more and more disorganised and chaotic with time. Perhaps this also applies to people created organisations as well!?
